Making it in Esports: GTZ Bulls Club CEO, Ricardo Saraiva On Owning an Esports Team

The following is a recent interview we had with Ricardo Saraiva, CEO of GTZ Bulls Club.
1. What was your journey like that eventually led to owning your own team?
RS: From a young age I was really connected to the world of videogames and I was a very enthusiastic player. The video game industry has always fascinated me and, in 2005, together with a friend, we founded the first GTZ organization with the game Americas Army. Since then the project has grown and in 2008 it became more than a hobby with serious and ambitious goals that have come with the opening of several, at the time, new games such as Counter Strike 1.6 and Call of Duty.
I am currently 42 years old and I dedicate a large part of my life to the club.
2. What’s an average workday look like for you?
RS: At the moment I have to use my time wisely and divide it between the management of a company and the e-sports club, taking into account the vast staff team, roughly 30 members, we managed to safeguard all pending matters.
3. What’s the most challenging part about owning your own team?
RS: The most challenging part about owning my own team is also one of my biggest ambitions which is to always have the best players of my country and from each game and take them to bigger stages in the world of esports.
4. What advice would you have for aspiring professional gamers?
RS: Hard work, dedication and above all humility, then opportunities will arise.
5. What excites you most about the future of the esports industry?
RS: Right now, I’m aware of so many television broadcasts channels that have plans in relationship with the esports community regarding antenna rights, thereby helping to boost other clubs and brands such as ours, thus improving the conditions of the teams considerably.
